MACEDONIAN BLOODY WEDDING
Set in the tumultuous period of the Ottoman Empire in Macedonia, this neo-classical ballet adaptation of “Macedonian Bloody Wedding” tells the tragic story of a young couple's love caught in the crossfire of oppression and resistance. The ballet follows the bride, whose wedding day turns from joy to horror as the local Ottoman authority demands her hand.
The community's defiance leads to a bloody confrontation, symbolizing the broader struggle for freedom and identity. Through captivating fusion choreography blending the elegance of classical ballet with the intensity of Macedonian folklore, and emotive music, the production explores themes of love, sacrifice, and national pride.
This story honors the resilience and unyielding spirit of the Macedonian people, who, despite their suffering and misfortune, never lose hope for freedom.
